What Is Messianic Judaism?

A biblically based movement of Jewish and Gentile believers in Yeshua (Jesus) — the promised Messiah of Israel.

THE HEART OF THE MOVEMENT

A Faith Rooted in Scripture, Israel, and Yeshua

Yeshua is the Hebrew name for Jesus — and it means Salvation. He was born Jewish, raised Jewish, taught in the synagogues, and was called Rabbi by His followers. Every one of His first disciples was Jewish. The writers of the New Testament — all Jewish.

The faith that would later be called “Christianity” did not begin as a Gentile religion. It began as a Jewish movement — a movement of Jews who believed the Messiah promised in their own Scriptures had finally come.

Messianic Judaism is a return to that original foundation.

"Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them."

— Matthew 5:17

WHAT WE BELIEVE

The Core of Messianic Faith

The beliefs that unite Messianic Jews and Gentile believers around the world — and the foundation of our congregation.

✡️

The God of Israel

We believe in the one true God — the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob — who exists eternally as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

👑

Yeshua Is Messiah

We believe Yeshua (Jesus) is the promised Jewish Messiah — born of a virgin, crucified for our sins, risen from the dead, and coming again.

📖

The Whole Bible

We believe the Torah, Prophets, Writings, and New Covenant are the inspired Word of God — one continuous story of redemption.

🕊️

Grace Through Faith

Salvation comes by grace alone, through faith alone, in Yeshua alone. No human effort can earn God's gift of redemption.

📜

Torah Is Relevant

The Torah was not abolished — it was fulfilled by Yeshua. God's instruction remains a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

🤝

One in Messiah

In Yeshua, the wall between Jew and Gentile is broken down. We are one body, one faith, grafted into the olive tree of Israel.

HOW WE WORSHIP

What Makes a Messianic Service Different?

Messianic congregations honor the Jewish roots of the faith — not as a cultural add-on, but as the original context in which God revealed Himself, gave His Word, and sent His Son.

Shabbat worship — We gather on Saturday, honoring the biblical Sabbath
Biblical feasts — Passover, Shavuot, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Hanukkah, and Purim
Hebrew in worship — Prayers, blessings, and songs in the language of the Bible
Weekly Torah reading — Following the annual cycle, seeing Yeshua in every portion
Shared meal after every service — Community is built around the table
Open to everyone — Jewish and Gentile believers worshiping side by side
The Shema

"Hear, O Israel: the LORD our God, the LORD is one."

— Deuteronomy 6:4

The Aaronic Blessing

"The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make His face shine on you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn His face toward you and give you peace."

— Numbers 6:24–26

A GROWING MOVEMENT

Messianic Judaism Around the World

Today, tens of thousands of Messianic Jews worship in the United States alone. Congregations are growing in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Holland, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, and South Africa. In Israel itself, an estimated 30,000 Messianic believers gather — the largest community since the first century.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Questions People Ask

Isn't this just Christianity with a Jewish twist?+
No. Messianic Judaism is not an attempt to add Jewish customs to a Christian framework. It is a recovery of the original, Jewish framework in which faith in the Messiah was born. The first believers didn't add Judaism to their faith — their faith was Jewish. Messianic Judaism seeks to return to that foundation.
Can you be Jewish and believe in Jesus?+
The first people who ever believed in Jesus were Jewish. Every apostle was Jewish. The entire New Testament was written by Jewish authors. The question is not whether a Jew can believe in Yeshua — the question is how, over the centuries, we came to believe they couldn't.
Do Messianic Jews follow the Torah?+
Most Messianic Jews honor the Torah as God's instruction and seek to live by its principles — not as a means of earning salvation (which comes by grace alone) but as a response to God's love. The degree of Torah observance varies among individuals and congregations.
Do I need to be Jewish to attend?+
Not at all. Paul describes Gentile believers as wild olive branches grafted into the olive tree of Israel (Romans 11:17). Many Messianic congregations — including ours — are made up of both Jewish and Gentile believers. You are not a guest. You are family.
Is the service in Hebrew or English?+
Both! Our services are primarily in English, with Hebrew incorporated in prayers, worship songs, Scripture readings, and blessings. You don't need to know any Hebrew — you'll pick up the key phrases naturally, and we're happy to help.
Is this a growing movement?+
Yes. There are tens of thousands of Messianic Jews in the United States alone, with congregations in almost every major city. The movement is growing worldwide — in Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, England, France, Holland, Israel, Mexico, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, and beyond. In Israel itself, there are now an estimated 30,000 Messianic believers — the largest community since the first century.
